Affordable Health Care Act

There's been a lot of talk lately about the AHCA and the Supreme Court ruling on it.

I believe we need health care reform in certain areas. I just don't believe we need a bill that is nearly 3000 pages long in order to do it. I also don't believe it is Constitutional to force anyone to buy health insurance or any other commodity.

If we didn't already have health insurance through my wife's employer, I wouldn't be able to get it because of a couple of preexisting conditions. That needs to be fixed. We should have affordable options available to all Americans. Including those with preexisting conditions.

We also need to address our malpractice lawsuits. Malpractice lawsuits drive up the cost of our health care not only in the cost of the awards and costs of defending against lawsuits, but also because doctors perform unnecessary tests and procedures in order to cover their butts in case of a lawsuit.

One possible fix for this particular issue is how Sweden approaches malpractice. Say you have unforeseen complications from a surgery that may be the fault of the doctor. A board will review your case and decide how much compensation, if any you are entitled to based on a variety of factors. In Sweden people don't get rich for life because of a malpractice lawsuit.

As far as the poor not having insurance, they already have an option for health care, it's called Medicaid. Years ago when my wife and I were just starting out we lost our health insurance right after she got pregnant. Medicaid helped us through that.

Illegals? Screw them, they shouldn't even be here in the first place. 'Nuff said.
